Some blokey recently got loads of attention for donning a sandwich board saying 'interview me', flaunting himself around media companies and ending up with an internship at JCDecaux.
That exact same thing was first done by Paul Arnold over 20 years ago. The story (according to Sir Nicholas of Darke) is that Paul trudged up and down Charlotte Street wearing a sandwich board emblazened with the very phrase for an entire week.
Bill Muirhead, an Aussie with a wicked sense of humour who was a grand fromage within the agency, eventually got word of this and asked reception to invite him in for a interview. Upon answering the first question Paul spoke with a t-t-terrible stut-stut-stutter. Bill smiled. 'When can you start mate?... I've got the perfect job for you!'
And so the very next day Paul entered 80 Charlotte Street as a Saatchi & Saatchi employee and began his role as account exec on the p-p-pick up a penguin account.
