Item the first:
False deadlines. An obvious choice first up, but no creative can deny that they're a humungous pain in the ball bag.
Item the second:
Ads with a Vernon Kay voice over. Just because.
Item the third:
Account micro-Managers. Don't get me wrong a lot of Account Managers are very good, doing a fantastic job selling ideas, managing work flow and generally making the creative process a lot smoother. But there are some who just Account micro-Manage, the traits of which are as follows:
• They faff to the nth degree.
• They're constantly constantly constantly checking up on you.
• They re-brief when there's actually no need to.
• They're hyperactive yet at the same time somehow good at dordling.
• Finally, and although I bloody love Columbo, I'm quite peeved when Account-Micro Managers leave only to return 5 seconds later with 'just one more thing'.
Item the fourth:
Being briefed to create an animated GIF under 30KB. Words can not descibe the terror. Did someone rewind the internet to 1997?
Item the fifth:
The bulging egos of some creatives. Get over yourself.
Item the sixth:
Shameless celeb sell outs. Because they're all terrible. When even anti-establishment figures like John Lydon and Iggy Pop are flogging butter and car insurance you start to wonder 'is nothing sacred?'
Why do the celebs in question do it? They clearly don't need the money and they never come out of it with their reputation enhanced. Quite the contrary. I'm thinking of Ronaldo for some reason working for Castrol, Beckham looking beyond cheesy stealing Sharpies and Benicio Del Torro attempting to heist 180 pieces of (Magnum) Gold.
...At this point I imagine Merton'd probably be in agreement and maybe play a commercial with a mega-sell out celeb performance trumping my examples, possibly one of Arnie's Japanese exploits.
Credits roll.
